American Idol: Ladies Night Strong with Stephanie Edwards and Sabrina Sloan
American Idol Ladies Night started off with Stephanie Edwards. She got rave reviews from the judges and Simon Cowell called her performance "A million times better than anything we saw last night."
Amy Krebbs followed with a drab performance, carrying on the tradition of last night.
Leslie was okay but Simon drew the "dog walking" analogy to how she seemed out of her comfort zone. Leslie is a professional dog walker. I would tend to agree with Randy Jackson that the song was "too big" for her.
Sabrina came on next. And she was hot! This one was a bit of a shock. "Probably the best performance thus far," said Simon Cowell. She was listed with early odds of +1000 to win the competition which would translate into a $100 won for every $10 bet. Cowell also distinguished Sabrina from everyone else as someone with a "genuine desire to win".
Antonella was not very good, with plenty of pitch problems.
17 year old Shannon Sparks has the name to make an impression. Her performance was above average towards the end but I thought she was fairly flat much of the way through. She will not get voted off this week and the judges feel she can get far. That's the good news.
Nicole came out of the gate strong with a powerful voice. Randy wasn't all that impressed but Paula totally disagreed, suggesting how good she was about hitting the high notes. Simon thought her performance looked "indulgent and unnatural" but agreed she could sing.
Haley sounded "old" and "a little boring" according to Simon. I'd tend to agree. She sang Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" and sounded like a bad Celine Dion cabaret singer. Sorry.
Melissa Dolittle came up next. She's the backup singer with the great voice and showed it tonight.
Gina came on strong at the end after a dull start singing "All By Myself" and she did hit the big note at the end, contrary to what Simon had to say.
Lakisha is the favorite to win and she came on strong to finish things off with that powerful voice. The judges loved her. She was fabulous.
