'American Idol' Sets Tuesday Standard
FOX rolls as 'House' trounces 'Dancing' results.
Fast National ratings for Tuesday, April 3, 2007 "American Idol" was on Tuesday night, which means that FOX cruised to a ratings win. But you knew that.
FOX earned a 13.9 rating/22 share for the night, blowing away the other four broadcast networks. CBS, 6.8/11, edged ABC, 6.6/11, for second. NBC was fourth at 5.6/9, and The CW was well back at 1.6/3.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 9.4 rating beat the combined total of its competitors. CBS finished second with a 2.9, while NBC and ABC tied for third at 2.6. The CW could only muster a 0.9.
A night of standards on "American Idol," with guest Tony Bennett, delivered a 15.3/25 for FOX at 8 p.m. "NCIS" came in second for CBS with an 8.7/14. NBC's "Dateline," 4.1/7, took third. ABC went with reruns of "George Lopez" and "According to Jim," which beat out a "Gilmore Girls" repeat on The CW.
FOX stayed on top at 9 p.m. as "House" posted a 12.5/19. ABC jumped up to second with the "Dancing with the Stars" results, 9.8/15 (FOX had a lead of better than 6 million viewers, however). "The Unit" was third for CBS, topping "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," 5.1/8, on NBC. The CW's "Search for the Next Doll" earned a 1.8/3.
"Law & Order: SVU," 7.6/13, moved NBC into the lead at 10 p.m. "Boston Legal" enjoyed a ratings bounce thanks to its lead-in, finishing at 6.8/11. A "CSI: Miami " rerun on CBS was third.
